Here comes the 2022/23 Whitetail ski season!

First day back to school for my kids, so of course my thoughts turn immediately to the 2022/23 ski season! It’s been a while since I’ve updated this site, as I lost a bit of focus during the pandemic. Everything was changing so fast and it was honestly hard to get a grip on what was happening at Whitetail between the change in management with Vail Resorts, and the Covid precautions.

If you spent much time there the past few seasons you know it’s been a bit weird, and many day skiers and riders were understandably super frustrated. The good news is that it sounds like Vail has heard your voices and is making some positive changes! Fingers crossed for a great season ahead.

New lift ticket booking policy

The main reason I wanted to do a quick update is to share some news about lift tickets and passes. I just learned that day ticket purchases will be limited (but no limitation or reservation required for Epic passholders…. deadline for current price is September 5th, so if you haven’t bought a pass now’s the time!). Hopefully this will address the overcrowding and long lines we saw last season.

In fact, lift tickets will be limited every day, across every resort, during the 2022/23 season– as Vail says, “in order to preserve the guest experience.” Yay for that – I’m a fan of this approach.

Vail says “Availability of lift tickets will be visible on our website in the coming weeks. If tickets are sold out online, guests will not be able to purchase them at ticket windows.  Passes, including Epic Day Passes, and Pass Holder benefit tickets will not be limited. There is also no impact to guests who enroll in ski and ride school lessons that include lift access, or to employee and dependent pass access.”

I’ll continue to update as I get more news, but wanted to share this important info so if you know what days you want to go to the resort now, you can book online as soon as they’re made available.

Women of Whitetail

I’ll update again as soon as I know what the plan is for the Women of Whitetail 5-week program. It is happening, so stay tuned! I believe we may also be getting our Women’s Day program back but have fewer details there. This is because of your voices, so thank you for speaking up and reaching out to let the resort know how important these programs are to you!
